Parental involvement laws for minors

Parental consent needed

No restrictions

Total abortion ban

What do parental involvement laws entail?

If you’re a minor getting abortion care, some states require you to either have:

  • parental consent, which requires you to have a written permission from a parent, or
  • parental notification, which means that a parent will get notified by the clinic before your abortion.

Can’t get or don’t want to involve your parents with this decision? You can request judicial bypass, or consider traveling to a nearby state without parental involvement laws.
